Karl Schimmeck is the Managing Director, Global Head of Vulnerability Management at Morgan Stanley, responsible for the discovery of and oversight on the remediation of vulnerabilities within the corporate computing environment. This includes management of the firm’s application security and penetration testing programs as well as its partnership and engagement with the US Government on cybersecurity matters. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, he was a Managing Director at SIFMA where he led SIFMA’s advocacy work on cybersecurity, business resiliency and technology risk. He started in financial services working in multiple operational risk positions at Goldman Sachs with a focus on OTC Derivatives. Additionally, he’s worked as a strategy consultant, solution architect and program manager for PTC supporting the design and delivery of product data management and CAD/CAM solutions for Technology and Aerospace customers. He’s served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps and holds an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business and a BS in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University.
