Growing public-private partnerships to protect the sector

Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council (FSSCC)

The Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, along with its US government counterpart, the Financial and Banking Information Infrastructure Committee (FBIIC). Through this official US public-private partnership forum, the FSSCC has provided sector leadership on several important issues, including a first of its kind data protection framework with our FBIIC partners, CISA's initial Common Cybersecurity Performance Goals, and a variety of domestic and international regulation and policy proposals.

As the operational arm of the council, FS-ISAC is not only one of the FSSCC founding members and serves on its Management Committee but has also provided strategic leadership, with senior FS-ISAC staff serving as the FSSCC Executive Director and Deputy Director for FSSCC continuity as its Chair and Vice Chair change with routine elections. Our role within the FSSCC ensures that our members are privy to the latest policy issues being discussed at the US national level. In addition, in cooperation with the US Treasury, we increased monthly unclassified sector briefing attendance from 200 to 2000.
