FS-ISAC Reveals New Strategy for Cybersecurity & Resilience of the Global Financial System

Four key priorities will shape operations: Supply chain risk, geopolitical shifts, fraud, and emerging technologies (e.g. AI & post-quantum cryptography)

Reston, VA - March 2, 2025 FS-ISAC, the member-driven, not-for-profit organization that advances cybersecurity and resilience in the global financial system, is evolving. At the 2026 Americas Spring Summit, CEO Valerie Abend unveiled a new guiding strategy that will empower FS-ISAC to deliver trusted, real-time visibility, so the global financial ecosystem can anticipate threats, respond faster, and reduce systemic risk.

“For decades, FS-ISAC has built a trusted network to help protect the global financial system,” said Valerie Abend, CEO, FS-ISAC. “We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, and our mission remains the same. But as threats and vulnerabilities compound into systemic risks, we must evolve to advance the cybersecurity and resilience of the global financial system.”

To learn what matters most to the FS-ISAC community, Abend conducted a 100-day global listening tour, meeting with more than 250 individuals and gathering more than 550 pieces of feedback.

During the discussions, FS-ISAC members and partners reinforced the need to ruthlessly focus on four key priorities that shape the collective risk landscape:

  • Supply chain risk
  • Geopolitical shifts
  • Fraud
  • Emerging technologies (e.g., AI & PQC)

FS-ISAC’s approach going forward will evolve into a unified platform with three core services structuring the organization's operating model:

  • Threat Intelligence: Provide deep insights and context, reducing uncertainty and driving collective and relevant situational awareness.
  • Response & Resilience: Provide a unified platform to support the sector’s response to systemic threats and resilience challenges.
  • Proactive Security: Foster collaborative defense of the global financial system through trusted relationships, best practices, and collective risk identification and mitigation.

These three core services will work collaboratively and reinforce each other to drive collective defense. FS-ISAC will continue to coordinate summits, events, member forums, and webinars where members build their networks and learn about the latest innovations in financial services cybersecurity and resilience. Members can also continue to share their knowledge every day through the Intelligence Exchange platform and various Communities of Interest.

“FS-ISAC’s community includes some of the most experienced and capable security and resilience leaders in the world,” said Abend. “Collective defense isn’t a slogan. It’s a commitment we make together to secure the global financial system. FS-ISAC is Where Trust Meets Action.”

The active engagement of members and partners fosters our collective defense. To learn more about FS-ISAC’s new strategy or to make your own contribution to the threat intelligence platform, visit https://fsisac.com/GetInvolved
