Dana Turner is the Chief Information Security Officer at Union Bank & Trust (UBT), a family owned financial institution headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he has served for over 34 years. Rising through virtually every role in the IT division before assuming the CISO position, Dana brings a rare depth of institutional knowledge and operational perspective to financial services cybersecurity, forged not in a boardroom but on the ground floor.

Beyond his role at UBT, Dana is Co-Founder and Board Secretary of Cyber Strong Nebraska, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the state's cybersecurity posture. Through that organization, he helps lead Cyber Tatanka, Nebraska's premier annual defensive cyber range exercise now in its fifth year. He also serves as the Financial Services Sector Chief for Nebraska InfraGard, deepening public-private collaboration between the FBI and the financial institutions that form the backbone of the state's economy. His commitment to collective defense and cross sector information sharing mirrors FS-ISAC's core mission.

Dana has been an active participant on the FS-ISAC Cyber Attack against Payment Systems (CAPS) exercise team for over a decade, contributing to the resilience testing that helps financial institutions prepare for real-world threats. Through various conferences and events he regularly facilitates peer CISO workshops and council sessions on topics including self-care, personal liability, emerging AI governance, geopolitical threat assessment, and regulatory readiness spanning FFIEC compliance, CRI Profile, and NIST frameworks. His expertise extends to agentic AI governance policy development, threat intelligence sharing program design, security awareness strategy, and Incident response for financial institutions.

Known in the industry as an “unconventional CISO," Dana brings a community-first philosophy, a practitioner's credibility, and a genuine passion for advancing the resilience of the financial sector. He believes the strongest defenses are built collectively and that every institution, regardless of size, has a role to play.
